Rubicon Brewing Company to Host Fundraiser for Sierra Forever Families,
a Local 501(c), Non-profit Organization.

Sacramento, CA  – On Wednesday, June 23, 2010, the Rubicon Brewing Company will hold their second “501(c) Wednesday.” This weekly event was created to benefit local 501(c), non-profit organizations by donating a portion of the day’s profits. On this second “501(c) Wednesday”, Rubicon Brewing Company will be donating to Sierra Forever Families.

Sierra Forever Families (Sierra) is a 501(c), non-profit organization whose mission is to transform the lives of children in foster care by building and nurturing permanent families. Founded in 1983, Sierra Forever Families has helped over 2,300 children and youth find permanence through adoption, kinship, guardianship and reunification. Sierra strives to find families for children who are harder to place; siblings, older youth, children with emotional and physical challenges, and multi-ethnic with diverse backgrounds. With the addition of its mentoring program, Wonder, Sierra has increased its opportunities to aid youth in care by providing a caring consistent adult to guide them through fun experiences in nature, art, music, sports, and dining out.

In the Greater Sacramento Region, there are nearly 4,000 children and youth living in the foster care system. Nearly half of these children will not return to their birth family and are in need of a permanent family or life-time connection today. There is virtually no cost to adopt a child from the foster care system. If a child does not find a permanence before the age of 18, they have a greater chance to become a part of the dire statistics: Youth who age out of the foster care system at age 18 and do not have a permanent family or life-time connection, within 2-4 years, over 50% will be homeless addicted to drugs, in prison or dead. Of this group, over 60% of the females will have a child within 2-4 years. These outcomes are dire. Our children deserve a loving family to call their own.

Please plan to enjoy a meal and a brew at the Rubicon Brewing Company on June 23, 2010 to help support this worthwhile organization. Rubicon brewery tours will be held, and staff of Sierra Forever Families will be on hand to answer questions about youth permanency.

The Rubicon Brewing Company is a favorite Midtown Sacramento institution that is committed to its community. For over 23 years the Rubicon has provided handcrafted beers and great food, served in a casual, friendly atmosphere.

Rubicon Brewing Company
WILL HOST fundraiser FOR
CALIFORNIA SMALL BREWERS ASSOCIATION,
A LOCAL 501(c), NON-PROFIT organization.

Sacramento, Ca (May 26, 2010)- On Wednesday, June 2nd 2010,  the Rubicon Brewing Company will hold the premiere “501c Wednesday.” This weekly event was created to benefit local 501(c), non-profit organizations by donating a portion of the day’s profits. On this first “501(c) Wednesday”, Rubicon Brewing Company will be donating to The California Small Brewers Association (CSBA).

The California Small Brewers Association is a 501(c)6 non-profit trade association protecting the political and legal rights of the California craft brewing industry. The association was formed in 1989 and is the oldest state craft brewers’ trade association in the country.

Craft brewers operate within a highly regulated alcohol beverage industry; which has entered a new era of rapidly changing industry dynamics. Due to recent court cases and legislative actions, competing interests in the industry are re-positioning themselves favorably with attempts to reshape state regulations. Current rights that have allowed small brewers to survive are subject to change through legislative action by these competing entities. Additionally, there have been repeated attempts to dramatically increase taxes on beer in California, even though brewers already pay an excise tax on their products and licensing fees. Currently, 45% of the cost of a beer goes to taxes!

The primary role of the CSBA is to monitor these issues at the state Capitol and to employ our industry’s voice as needed. The CSBA acts as one coherent and powerful voice for all small brewers in California.

In addition to legislative work, the association offers a broad realm of services and support for the small brewers of California. The Association has addressed many critical business and supply issues by conducting work shops around the state and regularly communicates to its membership. We also hold various events and meetings that help foster communication and education among the family of craft brewers.

Please plan to enjoy a meal and a brew at the Rubicon Brewing Company on June 2nd, 2010 to help support this worthwhile organization. Rubicon brewery tours will be held, and Tom McCormick, a CSBA Executive Director, will be available to answer questions about beer and current legislative issues and how private citizens can become beer activists and support the craft beer industry.

The Rubicon Brewing Company is a favorite Midtown Sacramento institution that is committed to its community. For over 20 years the Rubicon has provided handcrafted beers and great food, served in a casual, friendly atmosphere.

Women in Brewing

Rubicon Brewing Company hosts the 4th Annual Women in Brewing Festival

Sacramento, CA – In 2007 the Rubicon Brewing Company established the Women in Brewing celebration. This is an event that digs up the history of women in brewing while spotlighting the talent of those brewers in our industry today. The 4th Annual Women in Brewing Festival will take place at the Rubicon Brewing Company at 2004 Capitol Avenue starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 24th and will go until the beer is gone. Many talented female brewers have been invited to showcase their special recipes and hard to find brews. Some of these ladies will make the journey to the Rubicon Brewing Company to chat with event goers while enjoying a day in the sun with their fellow brewster’s and a pint. This event is not a competition nor is it a “brewfest.” It is a typical day at the Rubicon where we will highlight the fabulous “brewed by women” beer on tap for tasting in sample, goblet or pint along with food specials and, as always, great friends. A silent auction will be held with great prizes donated by local businesses. While honoring and bringing recognition to our women in the brewing industry, the Rubicon Brewing Company is dedicated to raising money and awareness for WEAVE (www.weaveinc.org). The event raises more than $4,000 to support crisis intervention services for victims of sexual assault. WEAVE is the primary provider of crisis intervention services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Sacramento County.

For more information, please contact the Rubicon Brewing Company at (916) 448-7032.
